Breast Augmentation in Tampa

A breast augmentation is a procedure to place implants in the breast to enhance the shape and size of the breasts. Many women desire a figure that is more in proportion with their body. Often women who have had children want a more youthful and rejuvenated appearance to the breast. Breast implants can also be used to balance an uneven appearance. Breast augmentation is a cosmetic procedure using saline (salt-water)-filled implants that are placed either behind or in front of the chest muscle. This procedure may be combined with a mastopexy (breast lift) to enhance the rejuvenation of your breasts.

What kind of breast implants will I get?

Every woman is different, and each woman is evaluated as an individual to determine which implant will produce the desired effect for her body.

In general, breast implants come in many shapes and sizes, but all are made of a thin, solid silicone shell. The shell surface may be textured to reduce the chance of scar formation around the implant. Smooth implants are softer and generally less likely to be felt through the skin.

Silicone gel implants are now FDA approved for cosmetic breast augmentations. The outside of the implant remains the same, but the inside is filled with a gel that feels more natural than saline implants in most women.

Dr. Coberly will discuss your options with you to chose the implant most suited for you.

How is the surgery performed?

General anesthesia is used for the procedure. An incision is made in one of 3 places:

» Periareolar – around the nipple, disguising the scar where the darkly-colored skin ends.
» Infra-mammary fold – in the crease under your breast, hiding the scar in the fold and under your breast.
» Axillary – in the arm pit, hiding the scar in a crease.

One approach may be more appropriate for your anatomy than others. Your surgeon will discuss this with you.

The implant is placed either behind or in front of the pectoralis muscle, inflated with saline if appropriate, and the incision is closed. The procedure is usually performed on an outpatient basis.

How long is the recovery time?

Most patients are back to normal activities in 24-48 hours, with restrictions. Someone will need to stay with you for the first 24 hours. Patients usually are able to return to work in 3-7 days with limitations on physical activity. You will be given pain medication. No drains are used. It takes a few weeks for the swelling to go away completely.

Can I use my own fat instead of implants?

Yes!  Fat injections have been shown in multiple clinical studies to be a safe and effective way to increase your breast size.  A consultation is needed to see if you are the right candidate for this procedure.

Ideal Implants

What is the Ideal Implant?

The ideal implant was made to show the world that not all implants are created equal. After researching what was currently on the market, as well as their advantages and disadvantages, a design was made that consists of two shells nested together and two different chambers. The chambers are what hold the saline filler, while the internal structure not only controls the movement of the saline, but reduces any folding and wrinkling, which is widely considered to be the main cause of issues like rupture and deflation. The design as a whole allows for better contouring to the chest wall by lowering the edges on the outside.

The Ideal Implant uses saline in conjuncture with its superior internal structure to create a patented look and feel that no other manufacturer can replicate. It has been approved by the FDA and Health Canada as of 2014 after over 500 successful clinical trials, and comes with a limited warranty so that you can have the same confidence in your choice of implant as those that have created and manufactured the product do.

Advantages:
Here are just a few of the advantages of the Ideal Implant that have been found through clinical trials:
-Higher Rupture Strength
-Smaller Incision
-Lower capsule contracture rate
-Harmless absorption of Saline by the body

A Solution That is “Just Right”
Normal saline implants often do not have the natural feel due to their lack of structure, and tends to collapse and wrinkle. Silicone has a natural feel, but is filled when manufactured instead of during surgery, which leads to damage when forced through the incision point. The Ideal Implant takes the best of both while avoiding the issues. The structure allows for a natural feel while using saline in a safe and effective way.
