One to two weeks before surgery:
You may want to plan to have someone stay with you for a few
days during your recovery. Make plans for your family and pets
as needed.
If your bedroom is located upstairs, you may want to stay downstairs
or with a friend instead, depending on your activity restrictions.
Stop taking all aspirin and products that have aspirin in them.
If you have been prescribed aspirin by your doctor, please discuss
this with Dr. Coberly. Also stop taking ibuprofen and all other
NSAIDS unless specifically discussed with Dr. Coberly. You may
take TylenolŪ (acetaminophen) as needed for headaches or minor
pain during this time.
A few days before surgery:
Prepare some quick, easy, bland meals. Stock up on soup , jello,
crackers, and non-carbonated beverages.
Plan to wear something home from the hospital that is comfortable
and easy to change. Wear slip-on shoes to avoid bending over.
Get all of your prescriptions filled in advance.
Gather some fluffy pillows, robe and slippers, glasses, and
some good books and movies to pass the time.
After Surgery:
Be sure you understand your activity restrictions, medication
instructions, and please don't hesitate to ask if you have a
question. |
