Before Surgery…

Planning ahead can make your surgical experience less stressful and more safe. The following tips apply to surgical procedures in general. Please also see the instructions for each procedure for more details.

One to two weeks before surgery:

You may want to plan to have someone stay with you for a few days during your recovery. Make plans for your family and pets as needed.

If your bedroom is located upstairs, you may want to stay downstairs or with a friend instead, depending on your activity restrictions.

Stop taking all aspirin and products that have aspirin in them. If you have been prescribed aspirin by your doctor, please discuss this with Dr. Coberly. Also stop taking ibuprofen and all other NSAIDS unless specifically discussed with Dr. Coberly. You may take Tylenol® (acetaminophen) as needed for headaches or minor pain during this time.
